Marc G. Serré Announces Appointment of Board of Director Positions at Three Northern Ontario Companies

December 22, 2025

Serré & Associates / Associés is pleased to share that Marc G. Serré has recently taken on three new governance roles in Northern Ontario: member of the Board of Governors at the Université de Sudbury, member of the Board of Directors at Blue Sky Net, and member of the Board of Directors at Northern Policy Institute.

Taken together, these appointments reflect a consistent focus on three priorities that matter to Northern communities and to our work at Serré & Associates / Associés: strong and resilient education institutions, modern broadband connectivity, and evidence-informed economic and community development.

Marc brings more than 30 years of leadership across telecommunications, governance, and public service. Before entering federal politics, he founded and led PhoneNet Communications, advising organizations on practical telecom solutions and connectivity expansion. He later served in senior regional leadership roles in telecommunications, including as District Manager at EastLink, supporting broadband deployment, operational leadership, and customer service modernization across Northern Ontario.

Marc also has deep experience in education, accessibility, and community services, including leadership roles with the Canadian Hearing Society and teaching and program leadership in post-secondary environments, including Collège Boréal and Cambrian College. As a former Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt (2015–2025), Marc worked closely with municipalities, businesses, and community organizations across Northern Ontario and was appointed Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Official Languages, to the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, and to the Minister of Rural Economic Development. He also served in international parliamentary and governance leadership roles, including as Chair of the Canadian Section of ParlAmericas, building relationships and collaboration across the Americas.

Today, Marc also serves as Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk for the Municipality of Markstay–Warren, bringing a hands-on, operational lens to governance: building strong systems, strengthening transparency, improving service delivery, and supporting sustainable community growth.

Through Serré & Associates / Associés, Marc’s work continues to centre on connecting people, information, and plans to solve complex problems and deliver practical results. These new board roles reinforce that mission and create more opportunities to support Northern Ontario’s long-term success.
