Marc G. Sérre, appointed as a board member with the Northern Ontario Policy Institute

November 1, 2025

Serré & Associates / Associés is proud to share Marc G. Serré’s appointment as a board member with Northern Policy Institute (NPI), Northern Ontario’s independent, evidence-driven think tank focused on strengthening the region’s capacity to lead on socio-economic policy and practical solutions.

NPI’s approach aligns closely with the kind of practical, action-oriented work Marc has promoted throughout his career: bringing leaders together across sectors, grounding decisions in evidence, and turning big challenges into clear priorities and implementable plans. Initiatives such as Northern Directions reflect that focus by convening leaders to identify priority areas for collective action and investment, supported by talent development and research capacity that helps move good ideas into measurable outcomes.

Marc’s interest in NPI’s work is grounded in decades of experience working at the intersection of community needs, economic development, and government decision-making. As a former Member of Parliament for Nickel Belt (2015–2025), he worked closely with municipalities, industry, Indigenous partners, and community organizations across Northern Ontario, and served as Parliamentary Secretary in portfolios that routinely intersected with Northern priorities: rural economic development, energy and natural resources, and official languages. He also has significant experience in organizational governance and public administration, including his current role as Chief Administrative Officer and Clerk for the Municipality of Markstay–Warren.

Marc brings a strong “connect and deliver” perspective to board work: connecting stakeholders and decision-makers, translating complex issues into clear choices, and supporting governance that drives results. He looks forward to supporting NPI’s mission and helping strengthen Northern Ontario’s capacity to lead on priority issues such as workforce development and immigration pathways, infrastructure and transportation, broadband and digital inclusion, housing and community wellbeing, and long-term economic competitiveness.
