Marc G. Serré annonce la nomination de membres du conseil d'administration de trois entreprises du Nord de l'Ontario
Marc G. Serré s’est récemment joint au Conseil des gouverneurs de l’Université de Sudbury ainsi qu’au conseil d’administration de Blue Sky Net, un organisme du Nord de l’Ontario voué au développement de la large bande et des technologies numériques. Ces nominations témoignent de son engagement constant envers l’éducation, l’innovation numérique et le développement des collectivités du Nord de l’Ontario.

L’ancien député libéral de Nickel Belt est le nouveau directeur général et greffier de la municipalité de Markstay-Warren.
En juillet, M. Serré s’est joint à la communauté à titre de nouveau directeur général et greffier.
« La raison pour laquelle ce poste me convenait bien, c’est mon expérience comme député », a-t-il déclaré.
Il se dit toutefois prêt à relever des défis. M. Serré affirme qu’« il y a beaucoup de frustration », tant chez les politiciens municipaux que parmi les membres du public.
« Les gouvernements locaux se sont vu transférer de nombreuses responsabilités; les maires et les conseils municipaux sont responsables de tous les services d’urgence et du logement, mais les municipalités ne reçoivent pas le soutien financier du gouvernement fédéral ou de la province », a souligné M. Serré. « Pourtant, ce sont elles qui reçoivent toutes les plaintes. »
M. Serré a indiqué que son expérience de travail avec les gouvernements et les leaders du milieu des affaires, ainsi que ses connaissances en administration, faisaient de ce poste « un bon choix ».
M. Serré a représenté la circonscription de Nickel Belt pendant près de dix ans. Élu pour la première fois à la Chambre des communes en octobre 2015, il a occupé le poste de député jusqu’en avril, lorsqu’il a été défait par le candidat conservateur Jim Belanger dans la nouvelle circonscription de Sudbury-Est–Manitoulin–Nickel Belt.

Former Liberal MP for Nickel Belt is the new CAO and clerk for the Municipality of Markstay-Warren.
In July, Serre joined the community as its new chief administrative officer and clerk.
“The reason this was a nice fit was because of my experience as an MP,” he said.
But he is prepared to be challenged. Serre said “there is a lot of frustration out there,” from municipal politicians, as well as members of the public.
“Local governments have been downloaded, so mayors and councils are responsible for all the emergency (response units) and housing, yet municipalities don’t get the financial support from the federal government or the province,” Serre pointed out. “But they get all the complaints.”
Serre said his experience working with governments and business leaders, and his knowledge of administration, made it “a nice fit.”
Serre served the riding of Nickel Belt for nearly 10 years. He was first elected to Parliament Hill in October 2015 and served as its MP until April, when he lost to Conservative candidate Jim Belanger in the new Sudbury East-Manitoulin-Nickel Belt riding.
